Ouch. If you thought the last short (Broken Paper Hearts) hurts, get ready for The Star of New Mexico. This is the fourteenth short in Seanan McGuire’s InCryptid series, and it tells the story of Jonathan and Frances Healy.

It’s also an ending of sorts, so get ready for that. Fans of the series already knew that this story would have to end eventually and that it probably wasn’t going to end on a happy note. After all, we’re talking about the Healys/Prices. More than that, we’re talking about their tales from a couple of generations ago.

Don’t read this short story if you’re not in the mood to cry. Because I promise you – you will cry. If you found yourself even remotely enjoying the adventures of these two quirky characters, then you’ll feel the ending of their story very keenly here.
