Short Story Saturday: Out of the Mirror, Darkness by Garth Nix
Out of the Mirror, Darkness is the seventh and final short in the Into Shadow series. I love that this series brought so many beloved authors together. Clearly, they enjoy terrifying their fans! And I love it. Continue reading →

Short Story Saturday: The Candles Are Burning by Veronica G. Henry
The Candles Are Burning is the sixth short in the Into Shadow series, which brought seven different authors together to tell dark tales. As with the rest of the series, viewer discretion is probably advised. Continue reading →

Short Story Saturday: Undercover by Tamsyn Muir
Undercover is the fifth short in the Into Shadow series by Amazon Original Stories. I’ll confess it’s also one of the reasons I wanted to read the series. I adore Tamsyn Muir (thank you for Gideon, Harrow, and Nona) and will read anything else she writes. Continue reading →
Short Story Saturday: What the Dead Know by Nghi Vo
What the Dead Know is the fourth short story in the Into Shadow series by Amazon Originals. As I adore Nghi Vo, this was one of the shorts that made me desperate to read the series (and yet it took me months to get around to it…whoops). Continue reading →

Short Story Saturday: The Six Deaths of the Saint by Alix E. Harrow
The Six Deaths of the Saint is the third short story in the Into Shadow series by Amazon Originals. I honestly think this one is my favorite of the collection (so far, I still have three to go as of writing this). Continue reading →

Short Story Saturday: Persephone by Lev Grossman
Persephone is the second novel in the Amazon Original series, Into Shadow. This collection has seven shorts in total, all from different authors – many of whom I adore. This one was written by Lev Grossman, who I’ve read, but I’ll admit it’s been a hot minute. Might have to fix that. Continue reading →

Short Story Saturday: The Garden by Tomi Adeyemi
The Garden is the first short story in a collection of seven, titled Into Shadow. It’s an Amazon Original, though I haven’t read that many of those (shocking, I know). Still, Into Shadow has several authors I adore, so I knew I had to check it out. Continue reading →

Short Story Saturday: The Bookstore Sisters by Alice Hoffman
Fans of Alice Hoffman probably rejoiced when her latest work was announced, a short story revolving around a bookstore and two sisters, The Bookstore Sisters. I finally finished reading it this week and am so glad I did. Continue reading →
Short Story Saturday: Skeleton Song by Seanan McGuire
Is everyone ready to squeal with me? Here we go: eeeee! As a huge fan of the Wayward Children series, the release of this short story absolutely made my day (month). Skeleton Song is the latest short story in the Wayward Children world. It follows Christopher, showcasing what the world beyond his door looks like. Continue reading →

Short Story Saturday: File and Forget by Seanan McGuire
Ha! It’s been a hot minute since I read any of Seanan Mcguire’s shorts that weren’t directly connected to one of her larger worlds (October Daye, InCryptid, etc.). So File and Forget was a pretty refreshing read, all things considered. As with many of the short stories I get by Seanan McGuire, File and Forget is available through her Patreon. You can sign up and get access to the entire backlog (which is pretty fantastic, if I may say so) alongside a new short every month. Continue reading →
