Review: Violet Made of Thorns by Gina Chen
Okay, so I’ve been looking forward to Violet Made of Thorns for a few months now, and boy, it did not disappoint! I love dark fantasy, twisted prophecies, and magical politics. This book has all of that – and then some. Continue reading
Review: The Drowned Woods by Emily Lloyd-Jones
If you loved The Bone Houses, you’ve got to read The Drowned Woods. It’s set in the same world and gives readers a bit more of a chance to explore the magical system and all the wonders (and horrors) it has to offer. Continue reading

Review: The Poison Season by Mara Rutherford
Wow. I’m not going to lie; The Poison Season was a bit of a tough read for me. I think it was partially the emotional state I was in at the time. I think the other part is the foundation of this story, which relies on animal (and human) sacrifices. It made for a heavy read, to put it mildly. Continue reading

Review: The Whispering Dark by Kelly Andrew
The Whispering Dark may just be my favorite OwlCrate read of 2022. It’s brilliant, combining multiple magical elements to create a seriously compelling mystery. Throw in a romantic subplot, and you’ve got something…magical. Continue reading
Review: The Luminaries by Susan Dennard
Like many other Susan Dennard fans, I have been counting down the days to the release of The Luminaries. The excitement began a couple of years ago when Susan Dennard read a choose-your-own-adventure of sorts on Twitter, with readers getting to vote on Winnie’s actions. It was a blast – it was also something we all needed at the time (think about the timing). Continue reading

Review: Ballad & Dagger by Daniel José Older
Wow! Ballad & Dagger was such a fantastic introduction to this world. I can see why Rick Riordan backed it – it is right up his alley. This YA fantasy novel has a little bit of something for everyone and is such a fun read. Continue reading

Review: Dreams Lie Beneath by Rebecca Ross
I’ve been meaning to sit down and read Rebecca Ross’ works for years now. But when one of her books, Dreams Lie Beneath, was included in one of my OwlCrate boxes, I knew that the wait was over (for me at least), and I am SO glad to finally say that I am in love with her writing style. Continue reading
Review: Skin of the Sea by Natasha Bowen
Skin of the Sea is the first in Natasha Bowen’s series of the same name. And let me just say, if you love mermaids and fantasy tales, then this is absolutely a book/series that you don’t want to miss out on! Plus, let’s be honest here: that cover is drop-dead gorgeous. Continue reading
Review: The Ivory Key by Akshaya Raman
The Ivory Key is the first novel in Akshaya Raman’s dulogy of the same name. This is yet another series started through OwlCrate, so I’m really hoping that they’ll do a special edition of the sequel. Fingers crossed! The Ivory Key is a young adult fantasy novel that will pull readers in and leave them wanting more. At least, that’s how it was for me! Continue reading
Review: Pride by Ibi Zoboi
Let me preface this review by saying that I adore retellings. I’ll read almost any that I come across, especially if it follows a favorite story of mine. Such as Pride and Prejudice. Enter: Pride by Ibi Zoboi. Pride is a modern remix of Pride and Prejudice that provides many unique takes on such a classic tale. Continue reading
