Sil in a Dark World: A Paranormal Love-Hate Story
Author: Brindi Quinn

4 1/2 kitties

Book Summary:

Prince Wayst has been given what feels like an impossible challenge – to inherit what is owed to him; he must spend time in the mortal realm. Worse, he must prove his understanding of sacrifice – by falling in love and being loved in return.

More specifically, he has to fall for Sil, an affectionless girl who enjoys living in a mess, making snide comments, and overlooking Wayst’s authority. It’s an impossible challenge, one designed to drive him to murder; he is sure of it.

My Review:

I’ve been a fan of Brindi Quinn for years, yet I haven’t read a fair amount of her backlog. So one of my goals this year is to read through them! Starting with Sil in a Dark World. Obviously, I knew I would enjoy this read, and I was not disappointed!

There are two things I adore about Brindi Quinn’s writing – the characters and her world-building. In this case, the characters really stole the show. They’re unique and full of personality. While one may not be human, there are times when it certainly can feel like he’s real.

The two dominant personalities of Sil in a Dark World clash, with Wayst and Sil being impossibly different. Yet they say opposites attract, right? Enter the enemies-to-lovers trope. It makes for a fun and quick read, one undoubtedly worth checking out!

Highlights:

  • Worldbuilding
  • Enemies to Lovers Trope
  • Unique characters

Trigger Warnings:

  • Missing Parent
  • Betrayal
