Short Story Saturday: Dreams and Sighs by Seanan McGuire

Series: October Daye
Author: Seanan McGuire
Released: August 2019
Received: Patreon

Once more, we’re diving back into the short stories of October Daye! What can I say? I can’t get enough of them! Thankfully, there have been plenty to go around, so I can’t complain. As with many of these shorts, they are available to all of Seanan McGuire’s Patreons. It’s worth the sub, I promise.

Dreams and Sighs takes us back to the King of Cats, who is currently no longer a King. That is to say, we’re reading about Tybalt. My favorite. The second I saw his name, I knew that I was going to love this story. It’s set before the time of the main series and fleshes out just a touch more of his backstory. Of which there is quite a lot, I’m certain.

What is a King of Cats to do when he loses his title and his people? Apparently, wander in search of purpose. That wandering led Tybalt to a familiar location, and the story that unfolds here will resonate with fans of the series for several different reasons.

I really enjoyed this tale and the fresh bite of insight it made available. I’m constantly fascinated by Tybalt’s character and continue to cherish these stories.
