Everyone come together for a squealing session! Hope is Swift is one of many short stories from Seanan McGuire’s October Daye series, but there’s one thing that we really need to note here. The main perspective is Raj! Yes, please!

Hope is Swift is included at the back of The Unkindest Tide, and trust me; these stories should be read in that order. Now, time to move on to the fun parts.

Raj is the Prince of Cats. This means that he is second to Tybalt, one of my absolute favorite characters. There’s a lot of pressure resting on his shoulders, and stories like this tell us volumes about the king he will one day be.

In other words, his personality shone so brightly in this story, and I loved every minute of it. Seanan McGuire’s writing really brought him to live here and the other characters given more attention within these pages. All of which makes it worth reading (but obviously, I’m biased here).
