Book Summary:
Years ago, Lo Blacklock’s entire life was changed forever. She was a travel writer who found herself in over her head, and she was lucky to survive the situation. Since then, she’s moved on. Wrote a book. Had a family, the usual.
Years later, she’s looking to get back into journalism, and that means taking a new travel risk. This risk whisks her across the ocean to a fancy new chateau and hotel. It also brings her right back to danger, little does she know it.
My Review:
I’ve got to be honest with you here: I did not have this sequel on my bingo card. Maybe I should have, given how popular The Woman in Cabin 10 was. The Woman in Suite 11 picks up a few years later, but the two primary characters are very much the same.
In hindsight, I probably should have reread the first novel before diving into The Woman in Suite 11, because it took me a couple of chapters to get into the swing of things. That one is my bad, so I’m not letting that affect my review. However, learn from my lesson!
Unplanned sequels are usually…not great, but this novel did better than I dared to hope or expect. It almost captured the same magic that made the last one a hit. It had twists, turns, and plenty of tension.
Some parts had me wanting to scream at the characters involved, but I’d like to see that as a sign that I was invested in the story. That’s a good thing, right? We’ve all read a book (or watched a movie) that has made us feel this way.
Overall, I’d say that The Woman in Suite 11 was a decent read. It may not have been quite as strong as the first, but it’s a better sequel than expected. It’s a fun and twisty read.
