Book Summary:

My Review:
Secret Shadow Society: Shadow Bound is a fast-paced fantasy and a pretty quick read. The characters are compelling, and the story intriguing, as the past proves that it will never stay far behind.
The characters are absolutely the highlight of this read, with Esior and Jylenn largely stealing the show. There are half a dozen other characters, because this is an expansive fantasy, but those two were my favorites. They had the most interesting backgrounds and gave us the most reasons to care.
As for the world, it’s full of political intrigue, backstabbing, magical characters, and the works. The primary conflict is layered through lies, misconceptions, and personal motivations. Added in for good measure is a forbidden romance with a dash of fated mates.
LePage’s writing style is direct and to the point, allowing readers to get right to the meat of the story. Sometimes, this does have the unintentional result of making the story feel rushed, but overall, it allowed for the story to ebb and flow accordingly.
The multiple perspectives allowed for multiple smaller narratives to weave together, showcasing the complexity of the world, not to mention how messy wars (even fantasy wars) can be.
