Book Summary:

Annabella Ballinkay has the strangest family around – no, really. Her family runs the Ravenfall Inn, a magical safe haven for all who need it. This applies to humans and those from the Otherworld.

Colin Pierce is the most recent to arrive, on the run from the person who killed his parents. He had hoped to meet up with his brother here, but now he’ll have to rely on Anna’s family to find the answers to his problems.

My Review:

Has it really been three years since I put Ravenfall on my TBR list? Oops. I hate it when that happens! At least I can tell you that this book was worth the wait. In truth, I wish this book had existed when I was younger because little me would have been OBSESSED with this world. That isn’t to say that I’m a little bit obsessed with it now, but you get what I mean.

Overall, I’d say that the vibe of this story leans strongly toward Halloweentown, though the family (and Anna’s role in it) also feels a bit like Encanto. To be clear, though, this world has high stakes and even character deaths. For example, Anna can see visions of death when she touches people. So it’s going to be slightly heavy for a younger audience.

Ravenfall brings multiple magical characters and a bit of lore together for an enchanted world. It’s a solid foundation for the series, and I cannot recommend it enough for anybody looking for a bit of an escape.
