It’s that time of the month again! Time to talk about our monthly selections for subscriptions like BOTM (Book of the Month) and Aardvark Book Club! I’m currently enrolled in both, mostly because I’m indecisive. I also love that both boxes tend to offer VERY different selections.
In both subscription services, you can choose from a selection of books each month. BOTM will offer between five and seven new picks a month (plus a selection of add-ons) with a cap of five books per box. Aardvark offers a selection of five or six books and caps readers at three books a box.
June’s BOTM choices are:
- The Ghostwriter (Mystery)
- What Kind of Paradise (Historical Fiction)
- The Summer We Ran (Contemporary Fiction)
- Next to Heaven (Contemporary Fiction)
- Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil (Fantasy)
- King of Ashes (Thriller)

My Choices:
- The Ghostwriter – As always, when there’s a compelling thriller, I’m going to grab it. I’ve enjoyed Julie Clark’s previous novels, plus I love the cover. Sorry, my reason for picking this one probably isn’t that deep.
- Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil – I love Victoria Schwab, so obviously I was always going to grab her newest book. Truthfully, I was hoping that BOTM would carry it, so I really lucked out here.
June’s Aardvark choices are:
- The Starving Saints (Horror/Historical Fiction Special Edition)
- Left of Forever (Romance Signed)
- Someone Knows (Thriller)
- The Devils (Fantasy/Comedy)
- The Memory Collectors (Sci-Fi/Mystery)
- Disappoint Me (Literary Fiction)

My Choices:
- The Starving Saints – I love horror, but sometimes historical fiction has me debating. That said, the special edition (and Caitlin Starling’s name) was enough to tip me over the edge in this case.
- Someone Knows – I’m always on the hunt for a new thriller author to enjoy, so I decided to grab this one, since I haven’t heard of the author (fingers crossed!). Okay, I also adore this cover’s color, but that’s secondary, I swear!
- The Devils – Fantasy, comedy, and it has a dog? Sign me up! There were no trigger warnings about the dog dying, so I feel pretty safe diving into this new series. Please ping me if I’m wrong about that one.
