It’s that time of the month again! Time to talk about our monthly selections for subscriptions like BOTM (Book of the Month) and Aardvark Book Club! I’m currently enrolled in both, mostly because I’m indecisive. I also love that both boxes tend to offer VERY different selections.

In both subscription services, you can choose from a selection of books each month. BOTM will offer between five and seven new picks a month (plus a selection of add-ons) with a cap of five books per box. Aardvark offers a selection of five or six books and caps readers at three books a box.

My Choices:

  • Count My Lies – As always, thrillers are the first things I snatch up in any BOTM box. It promises to be emotional and one of those thrillers you can’t put down, so here’s hoping!
  • The Gods of the Woods (BOTY Winner) – I’m not sure why, but I never picked up The God of the Woods last year when it was made available. On the bright side, it made it an easy pick for my BOTY freebie. And apparently, it’s going to come with sprayed edges?! I hope I like it.
  • Rebel Witch (Add On)Rebel Witch isn’t actually a new add-on; I think it got added to BOTM for February or January. I was on the fence about it, to be honest, and was debating just getting it from my library. However, I got a free credit for March (birthday month!), so I just went for it.
  • (Spoiler Warning for OwlCrate Readers) – This month’s BOTM overlaps with OwlCrate, which is why I didn’t pick up Our Infinite Fates. I’m trying to reduce duplicates here.

March’s Aardvark choices are:

My Choices:

  • The Buffalo Hunter Hunter – I will buy/read anything by Stephen Graham Jones, end of story. In other words, yes, I did pick this book without reading the description. Well, sort of. I checked out the TWs first (the cat’s okay, so we’re good).
  • You Are Fatally Invited Have I mentioned that the thrillers I buy from Aardvark and BOTM pass through many hands after I buy them? Half a dozen family members read them, plus some friends, before I donate them to my local library. So yeah, any thriller is an auto-buy. Gotta keep the chain going!
  • Upon a Starlit Tide – I’ll be honest, I was really torn for my third pick. I almost couldn’t decide between Upon a Starlit Tide and The Strange Case of Jane O. I promised myself I would read more sci-fi this year, but I just felt that Upon a Starlit Tide was more of what I was looking for this month.
