Book Summary:

Julia hasn’t spoken to her old friend, Anya, is about two years. Not since the “friend” burned that bridge by accusing her of giving bad advice. So imagine Julia’s surprise to learn that Anya is dead.

The trouble only begins there, as Julia’s children are convinced something is wrong with their new home. There’s creaking in the night, and now strange videos are online- recorded from inside the house.

My Review:

Someone in the Attic is one of those familiar thrillers that you love to read—or at least that I love to read. While most of the tropes in this novel are not unique, their combination makes it shine.

The premise seems simple at first but actually gets a bit complicated. We have one death, one stalking, and a whole lot of very scared people. The more the story goes on, the more complicated it seems.

While I did enjoy Someone in the Attic, I’ll admit that one detail in the early part of the book told me who the killer/perpetrator was. So, I wasn’t surprised when that big reveal came about at the end. I find it satisfying that the important information was there for readers to find, but I wish it hadn’t been so easy.

Still, Someone in the Attic was an easy and comfortable read for a cozy winter night. So I can’t complain too much!
