3 1/2 kitties

Book Summary:

Nora Noone had been perfectly content to walk away from her family and build something of her own. Then, both her parents died. Now, Nona is faced with the fact that she doesn’t really know her father.

She’ll have to learn a lot about him if she wants to stand a chance at solving his murder. A murder that has been ruled a suicide by the police after little to no investigation. It doesn’t look right, and Nora’s one of the few willing to dig deeper.

My Review:

Weird things happen when you mix money and family. For this reason, I knew I wanted to try The Night We Lost Him. It’s a family drama, but one that made it clear right from the start that it would be very complex.

The Night We Lost Him feels like it happens at two points in time – the then and the now. In truth, it’s all Nora trying to dig up the past about her father. You know what they say about secrets; don’t go digging if you’re not ready to hear them.

This book surprised me at many points. While the pace was more wandering, it did have several twists that I probably should have seen coming. Overall, it made for a relaxing read.

That said, The Night We Lost Him is pretty full of unlikable characters. Nora was okay, but she wasn’t exactly my favorite. Her dad, though? I hated him. The more I learned about him, the less I liked him.
