It’s that time of the month again! Time to talk about our monthly selections for subscriptions like BOTM (Book of the Month) and Aardvark Book Club! I’m currently enrolled in both, mostly because I’m indecisive. I also love that both boxes tend to offer VERY different selections.
In both subscription services, you can choose from a selection of books each month. BOTM will offer between five and seven new picks a month (plus a selection of add-ons) with a cap of five books per box. Aardvark offers a selection of five or six books and caps readers at three books a box.
November’s BOTM choices are:
- Dirty Diana (Literary Fiction)
- Dinner for Vampires (Memoir)
- The Road of Bones (Fantasy)
- PS: I Hate You (Romance)
- The Teller of Small Fortunes (Fantasy)

My Choices:
- The Road of Bones (November Pick) – It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of fantasy novels, so when I saw that this month’s BOTM books (and add-ons) were pretty full of fantasy selections, I was thrilled! It was hard to limit my choices. The promise of Vikings, forbidden romance, witches, and secrets were enough to tempt me towards The Road of Bones.
- The Stone Witch of Florence (New Add-On) – The Stone Witch of Florence is a new add-on that sounds amazing. Set in 1378, it’s all about magic – of the healing variety. That’s my favorite! I’m all in.
November’s Aardvark choices are:
- American Rapture (Sci-Fi/Horror)
- Memorials (Horror)
- The Scholar and the Last Faerie Door (Fantasy/Historical Fiction)
- Like Mother, Like Mother (Contemporary Fiction)
- Perfect Fit (Romance)
- Eleanore of Avignon (Historical Fiction)

My Choices:
- American Rapture – I’ll confess that the trigger warnings had me a little on the fence (mainly the animal death warning) about American Rapture, but I ended up deciding to take the risk. We’ll see if I regret that! It’s a blend of sci-fi, horror, and dystopian.
- The Scholar and the Last Faerie Door – This is another historical fantasy novel that I’ve been trying to get better at reading (I’m not the best at reading historical books, in general). Also, I enjoyed The Magician’s Daughter, so it seemed like a good pick.
