It’s that time of the month again! Time to talk about our monthly selections for subscriptions like BOTM (Book of the Month) and Aardvark Book Club! I’m currently enrolled in both, mostly because I’m indecisive. I also love that both boxes tend to offer VERY different selections.

In both subscription services, you can choose from a selection of books each month. BOTM will offer between five and seven new picks a month (plus a selection of add-ons) with a cap of five books per box. Aardvark offers a selection of five or six books and caps readers at three books a box.

My Choices:

  • The Wild Huntress (October pick) – Yes! I’m a huge fan of Emily Lloyd-Jones, so her latest novel was an instant pick for me. Didn’t even need the description to be sold on it.
  • The Dagger and the Flame (October picks) – I’m a sucker for all things fantasy, so I’m always open to choosing the fantasy options on BOTM (especially if I haven’t read it/I know it won’t be popping up in my OwlCrate Box).
  • The Night We Lost Him (new add-on) – I really enjoyed Laura Dave’s last novel (The Last Thing He Told Me), so I was delighted to see The Night We Lost Him pop up in the add-on selection. It was another instant grab for me.
  • We Solve Murders (new add-on) – I desperately need a new mystery series, and the cover of this one caught my attention right away. It looks like the right balance of elements for what I’m looking for.
  • The Last One at the Wedding (new add-on) – This is another add-on, and it’s by an author I’ve never read, which is fun! I love trying out new thriller authors. Wish me luck!

My Choices:

  • My Vampire Plus-One – I could use a lighter paranormal/fantasy novel in my life right now. So, I picked My Vampire Plus-One. I know it’s the second in a series, but I’m hoping I can hop right in without issue (otherwise, I’m off to the library!).
  • The Lightning Bottles – The Lightning Bottles promises mystery and thriller elements, which was enough to get my attention.
  • The City in Glass* – I’m adding an asterisk to this one because I didn’t get it from Aardvark. Literally the only reason I didn’t pick The City in Glass is because I already have a copy (and I’m trying to cut down on duplicate purchases, for obvious reasons). I love Nghi Vo and highly recommend this pick!

Stay tuned for my reviews!
