What the Dead Know is the fourth short story in the Into Shadow series by Amazon Originals. As I adore Nghi Vo, this was one of the shorts that made me desperate to read the series (and yet it took me months to get around to it…whoops).

Maryse has gotten pretty good at taking advantage of people’s assumptions about her origins, turning it into a bit of a con. She can fake being a medium like nobody’s business. But dealing with actual ghost voices? Uh, that’s a whole new story.

Once again, Nghi Vo did a brilliant job of setting the scene. This historical fiction story may have fantasy (and horror) elements, but it felt so real due to the details she included. There is something so beautifully eerie about this tale. It very much lived up to my expectations!
