Arden Windermere may be young for her title, but she is worthy of it nonetheless. She’s the Queen the Mists needs, now more than ever. However, that doesn’t mean Arden took the job without any doubt.

Or regrets. She had a life before she was thrown into this one. Part of her will always long for that life and for her brother. Naturally, that means she’ll leap at the chance to get one of those two back.

I think Dreams and Slumbers is one of the longer October Daye shorts I’ve read so much. It gave readers plenty of time to appreciate Arden’s perspective, as well as the story she was trying to tell here.

Yes, that did make it hurt more in some ways, but in others, it shone so beautifully. Once again, I love seeing this world further fleshed out by seeing it through the eyes of countless different characters. If you love this series, I will urge you to try looking into at least a few of the short stories set in the same world.
