Book Summary:
Tucked somewhere outside the sands of time is a little town called Pocket. This is the town that most time travelers will visit as they make their way from one time to the next. It’s also the only home that Calisto has ever known.
Calisto is happy with this cozy life. They work for their grandmother’s costume shop, and they adore designing new clothes for travelers needing to fit in. However, that life is shaken up with one very surprising arrival: the time savant, Fawkes.
My Review:
Time travel and mayhem always seem to go hand in hand, and that’s certainly the case in Costumes for Time Travelers. This tale is a delightful and quick adventure through time, complete with a love of all things fashion.
I adore the core concept of Costumes for Time Travelers. Caliso’s love of fashion makes complete sense, especially when it can be applied to camouflage for time travelers. This bleeds through in a few different details, giving Calisto’s character a more complete feel.
That said, I do wish that the story had dug a little deeper into time-travel society as a whole. We saw just enough to want more: Pocket, the emergency meetings, the potential enemies, etc.
As for the romance, it is a little bit insta-love, but it’s all in good fun. Calisto and Fawke’s romance may happen fast, but it’s so endearing and sweet that it’s hard to get upset about any of it.
Overall, Costumes for Time Travelers is a fun and fast-paced tale full of time travel, fashion, and heart. It’s well worth the read, especially if any of these themes are your cup of tea.
