It’s that time again! It’s time for another Book Tag. I let these slide for a little bit, but I am trying to get back into the swing of things, so bear with me. This book tag was created by Perpetual Page-Turner.
Author you’ve read the most books from
I think, at this point, it’d have to be Ilona Andrews or Seanan McGuire?
Martha Wells and T. Kingfisher, along with Anne McCaffrey, are also high up there.
Best sequel ever

Pretties
It’s been decades, and this series still lives in my head, so I feel like that’s indicative enough. Pretties, in particular, hit hard because of the content and lessons for readers.
Currently reading

Crush the King by Jennifer Estep
It’s taken me far too long to finish this series, but I’m almost there!
Drink of choice while reading
Either water or tea. Not the most exciting, I know.
E-reader or physical book?
It depends. I love the options that come with an e-reader, but lately, I’ve been struggling with migraines when I read on a digital surface for too long (even the ones that simulate paper). If you have any advice on that front, I’m desperate. Because of this, I tend to switch it up and rotate back and forth.
Fictional character you probably would have actually dated in high school
I’m not sure there is one?
Glad you gave this book a chance

The Picture of Dorian Gray
This was not one of those required reading books, at least not when I went through school. So I picked it up and read it on my own volition, and I’m so glad I did! Talking about this makes me realize I’ve been slacking on my classic reading lately. In my defense, there are so many good books out there, and only so much time to work with.
Hidden gem book

The Bexley Chronicles by Brindi Quinn.
Read it. Love it. You won’t regret it.
Important moment in your reading life
Hrm. Probably my first time delving into fantasy? My first “big” fantasy series was The Lord of the Rings. That got me hooked, and soon, I was devouring Anne McCaffrey’s books and anything else that had a dragon on the cover. I’ve never looked back.
Just finished

Hearts of Oak
Freshly finished! As of writing this post, I haven’t even written a review for it. It’s a mind-bender but in a good way.
Kinds of books you won’t read
Overall, I’d like to believe I’ll give any book a chance. That said, I tend to avoid history and non-fiction novels. There are exceptions to the rule, obviously, which is why I can’t say “never” here.
Longest book you’ve read
I’m not 100% on this one because I’m too lazy to compare page counts, but I think it’s The Count of Monte Cristo, which has 1276 pages.
Major book hangover because of

The City in Glass
Guys, this book broke me. Not only did I feel ALL THE THINGS, but I didn’t read for like, three days after finishing it.
Number of bookcases you own
Hold, please, while I count.
13 bookcases. 14 if you count my side table, which is full of books. 15 if you count my TV stand, which is also, you guessed it, full of books.
One book you have read multiple times

Pride and Prejudice
I read it every year during the wintertime; it helps keep me going.
Preferred place to read
My living room. I have a little hoard of pillows and blankets that offer me the perfect support while I read. It’s the perfect cozy spot, especially if I’m joined by a cat (or three).
Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read
“Nothing is all good or all bad,” she says. “Life is so much messier than that.”
― V.E. Schwab, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
Reading regret
That I’m still behind on so many authors/series I love. I’ll get there, someday!
Series you started and need to finish (all books are out in series)

The Books of Raksura
I adore Martha Wells, and my big reading goal for this year (well, one of them) is to read through this series. I’m going to do it!
Three of your all-time favorite books

The Murderbot Diaries, The Secret Garden, Kate Daniels Series
Are two of those series? Yes. Do I regret cheating? No
Unapologetic fangirl for
Ilona Andrews, Martha Wells, T. Kingfisher, Seanan McGuire/Mira Grant, N.D. Stevenson, Stephen Graham Jones
Very excited for this release, more than all the others

Either Queen Demon by Martha Wells or A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett
Worst bookish habit
Mine, or in general? Mine would be stacking books. I try not to stack books on the floor (dust and cats), but I totally end up doing it.
In general? Borrowing a book and not returning it.
X marks the spot: start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book

Your latest book purchase

Remember when I said I was determined to read through The Books of Raksura Series? Well, I just bought the last two books I didn’t own for the series, Stories of Raksura Vol. 1 and 2
ZZZ-Snatcher book (last book that kept you up way late)

American Vampire Omnibus Vol. 1
I recently borrowed the Omnibus version of American Vampire, which is a honking 897 pages. It’s basically the first four volumes, and I stayed up wayyyy to late reading all of it.
