Katara and Sokka: Best Sibling Relationship

This is tough! There are SO many good sibling relationships out there. My first response is Pride and Prejudice. Yeah, I know there are crummy siblings in there too, but Elizabeth and Jane are such sweet and loyal siblings!

Yue: Favorite Star-Crossed Lovers

Again, SO many good choices! Poison Study, for starters. Oh! Uglies. That’s my final answer. Readers of the series will probably know which relationship I’m thinking of, but since it might be spoilery, I’m going to avoid mentioning it directly.

Blood Bending: A Book with a Disturbing/Unsettling Concept

What Moves the Dead. It’s a retelling written by T. Kingfisher, and it. Is. So. Creepy. Every time I think of it my skin crawls. It’s that good. And horrifying.

Toph: A Character Who’s Strength Surprised You/Or Surprised the Other Characters in the Book

Sonea from The Magician’s Guild / Black Magician Trilogy. She starts out young and well…not niave, but she certainly makes a lot of mistakes based on her inexperience. But by the end she has gone through so much and yet has the strength to keep on going. Her story still hits me hard to this day.

The Tales of Ba Sing Se: Best Short Story/Poetry Collection

I recently finished Apocalypse Scenarios, by Mira Grant, and some of those stories are still living rent free in the back of my mind. They probably will for a while yet. So I’m giving this award to that anthology.

Kyoshi Warriors: Best Warrior Character

Kate Daniels. Hands down. I know I said I was going to try and mix it up a bit, but I just HAVE to give credit where credit is due. She can throw down with magic, swords, words, you name it. It’s one of the (many) reasons why she is my favorite character. She’s certainly a great warrior character, to say the least!

Zuko: Best Redemption Arc/A Redemption Arc that Should Have Happened

I mean, can any of them top Zuko’s redemption arc?

Ugh, okay, I guess I’ll try and think of something…

Well…There’s Hugh d’Ambray. Yes! I know, he’s from the Kate Daniels universe. Please don’t kill me. But seriously, when Ilona Andrews announced that Hugh was getting his own novel (Iron and Magic) and that it was going to redeem his character…I was baffled. Then I read it, and they really nailed it. I went from hating his character to really getting him. It was so well done.

Uncle Iroh: A Wise Character

Hrm. Again, can we really top Iroh here? Okay, I’ll try.

Gandalf from The Hobbit/LOTR. He doesn’t know everything, but he knows a lot. More importantly, he knows to admit what he doesn’t know (even if he still acts like he knows everything – love him).

Azula: Best Downfall

Horus, from the Horus Heresy. That downfall is…how many books in the making? It’s certainly one of the longest downfalls. Truth be told, I’m not even done with the series, but it’s the first epic downfall that came to mind, so here we are…

Appa: Favorite Fictional Animal/Pet

The Cat. As in, the Cat from Coraline. I don’t think he ever gave him name. He’s one of my favorite guiding protagonists. Okay, his sass and sarcasm are pretty on point too, but that’s why I love him so much.

Aang: Purest Cinnamon Roll

Ha! Sorry. This prompt literally made me laugh out loud though (startled my cat and everything).

I’d have to go with…Faramir. I know, I already picked a LOTR character earlier, but seriously! Faramir is so perfect for this choice. He’s the softest cinnamon roll there ever is, minute a bit of ring temptation here and there.

Avatar State: A Stubborn Character/A Character that Struggles with Letting Go

Katniss Everdeen. Seriously. That girl cannot let go. Yes, her refusal to let go helped fuel a rebellion, but you’ve gotta admit – she’s also sometimes too stubborn for her own good. For example, without Peeta to complement her, the crowd probably wouldn’t have been so charmed by her. Yet it’s that very stubbornness that made Peeta fall for her…so there you go!
