Book Summary:
Paladins are known for causing problems – at least, that is true in this realm. Their stories reach far and wide, which shakes up the normal balance of power and worship. This is great news for the average person but a growing concern for the novels.
Enter Krell. He’s been called to serve on ReckNor, and those already in power aren’t too thrilled about this decision. They know the risk his mere presence holds over their power.
My Review:
There is nothing better (in my mind) than a story following an unlikely hero. And trust me, Krell is exactly that. It’s part of what makes his story so compelling. Well, that and the whole “stick it to those with power” vibes the entire system gives off. But that’s another story, isn’t it?
On that note, Beginning of Arrogance is an amazing title for the first novel in this series. It really brings home the point much of this book is trying to make, and I adore that SO much. I should probably mention that there are some Lit-RPG roots in this world, but it worked really well here (not a give by any stretch of the imagination, so it’s worth acknowledging).
I’ll confess that I’ve been in a paladin mood lately (you can thank T. Kingfisher for that), so it made me especially fond of this beauty. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
