Review: The Appeal by Janice Hallet

Colder seasons always put me in a thriller mood – anyone else? The latest novel on my thriller binge is The Appeal, which is actually a very different read than usual. It’s why I picked it. Written by Janice Hallet, the novel is a series of documents and collected curios than a linear novel, and I couldn’t resist. Continue reading

Review: Project Namahana by John Teschner

I’ve learned I cannot resist dark and gloomy mystery/thriller covers. Especially if they involve the sea, it’s a weakness, I suppose. Naturally, this means that I snatched up John Teschner’s Project Namahana. Continue reading

Review: Woman Last Seen by Adele Parks

Woman Last Seen is the latest novel written by Adele Parks, a thriller author I generally really enjoy. Truth be told, I expected Woman Last Seen to come up in the latest BOTM round of choices. Guess I was wrong on that front! Continue reading

Review: Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney

Daisy Darker was one of my six choices for August BOTM (side note: did you know that you can have more than one BOTM account? It’s amazing!). As a huge fan of Alice Feeney’s, I couldn’t pass this one up! Continue reading

Review: Lightning in a Mirror by Jayne Ann Krentz

Lightning in a Mirror is the third novel in Jayne Ann Krentz’s Fogg Lake series. It’s also the last of the series. I may have made a bit of a mistake here, as I didn’t realize that it was part of a series until after I had started reading. That being said, I didn’t have much of a problem getting into the story and enjoying the novel. Unfortunately, I did totally spoil the ending of the series for myself. So don’t pull a me. Continue reading

Review: The Ex-Husband by Karen Hamilton

The Ex-Husband is the latest novel to come from the mind of Karen Hamilton – the author that brought us The Perfect Girlfriend and The Last Wife. I’ve been meaning to give Karen Hamilton’s writing a try for quite some time now, and The Ex-Husband seemed like the perfect opportunity. Continue reading

Such a Pretty Smile is one of those thrillers that hits extremely hard, as it pulls in real-world elements to bring the story to life. Written by Kristi DeMeester, this book is perfect for anyone who wants to feel haunted. Continue reading

Review: The Verifiers by Jane Pek

You see, this is why I love Book of the Month. It helps me find new books that I otherwise missed out on. In this case, it was The Verifiers, written by Jane Pek. This has got to be one of the most original novels I have ever read, and I sincerely look forward to reading more by this author (hopefully in the near future!). Continue reading

Review: Buried by Lynda La Plante

Lynda La Plante, one of my favorite mystery writers, has started a brand new series! Buried is the first in her new DC Jack Warr series, and we all know that this will end up being another complex and (hopefully) long-running series of hers. Continue reading
