Review: Survive the Night by Riley Sager

Survive the Night is the latest novel written by Riley Sager (I’ll confess: I have way too many of his books stacked up on my TBR. It’s bad, guys). I grabbed it when it came up on BOTM, because it’s a thriller, and I can’t resist. Continue reading

Review: Thunderpaws and the Tower of London by Ben Housden and MonoKubo

I would like to nominate Thunderpaws and the Tower of London for having the cutest title I’ve seen in all of 2021. I don’t know why, but it just makes me smile (and laugh a little) every time I see or think of it. Thunderpaws and the Tower of London (see, there I go again!) is the first novel in the Nature’s Claw series. It was written by Ben Housden, with illustrations from MonoKubo. Continue reading

Review: Silverview by John le Carre

Silverview by John le Carre came up as one of my Book of the Month options, and I grabbed it without hesitation. It wasn’t until after I started reading that I learned that Silverview is a novel le Carre had been working on over the course of a few years – never quite getting it to the point that he liked. So now I’m feeling a bit conflicted on the matter. Continue reading

Review: The Scholars of Night by John M. Ford

Don’t you just love it when a book gets reprinted? I know I do. It gives me a chance to notice books that I missed the first time around. In this instance, the book in question is actually older than I am, which is always pretty cool. The Scholars of Night by John M. Ford is getting republished by Tor Books and is perfect for all the mystery fans in the house. Continue reading

Review: This Is Why We Lie by Gabriella Lepore

There’s a saying that those with glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Well, what happens when everyone in a town has a secret? That’s the story that Gabriella Lapore captured in This Is Why We Lie. Continue reading

Review: The Final Deception by Heather Graham

The Final Deception is the fifth novel in Heather Graham’s New York Confidential series, combining romance, crime, mystery, and suspense. I’ll confess that I mistakenly picked up this book without knowing it was part of a series. Yet, I didn’t have any trouble diving right into the plot. Continue reading

Review: The Girl Before You by Nicola Rayner

The Girl Before You is Nicola Rayner’s debut thriller novel, with psychological and crime elements. In short, it was more than enough to catch this reader’s attention! Continue reading

Review: Purrfectly Dead by Dixie Lyle

Purrfectly Dead is the fifth novel in Dixie Lyle’s Whiskey, Tango & Foxtrot Mystery (I adore the name of this series!), and as you might imagine, certain critters take center stage. Before I begin my review, I should confess that I haven’t actually read the first four novels in this series. Yet I had no problem diving right in and following along, so new fans could join in here if they so desire. Continue reading

Review: Thief of Souls by Brian Klingborg

Thief of Souls is the start of a new mystery series (Inspector Lu Fei Mysteries #1), written by Brian Klingborg. It’s the first time (I think) that I’ve read a murder/mystery series based in China, so I was really excited to dive into this novel. Continue reading

Review: The Three Mrs. Greys by Shelly Ellis

The Three Mrs. Greys is the latest novel to come from the mind of Shelly Ellis, and it is a twisting mystery and thriller. Continue reading
